Director ID Deadline Fast Approaching
Calling all directors! All company directors appointed on or before 31 October 2021 are required to apply for their director ID by 30 November 2022. With this deadline approaching fast, it is important that you are familiar with how to apply.
Applying for a Director ID is a straightforward process for most people; however should you require assistance in completing the application process, please contact our office to organise a time with a dedicated staff member. This service will be charged at $160 per hour.
Who needs to apply?
You will require a director ID if you are a director of a company, registered Australian body, registered foreign company, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporation, corporate trustee, or a charity or not-for-profit organisation that is a company or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporation.
How do I apply?
- Create a myGovID.
To apply for a Director ID, you will require a myGovID with a Standard or Strong Identity strength. To create a myGovID, download the myGOVID app onto your mobile device, enter your details, and link at least two Australian identity documents to your account to obtain the Standard Identity strength. These documents can include:
- Driver’s licence or learner’s permit
- Passport
- Birth certificate
- Citizenship certificate
- Medicare card
- Visa
- Immicard

- Gather your documents.
In your applications you will require:
- Your tax file number (TFN)
- Your residential address as held by the ATO
- Information from 2 documents to verify your identity. These documents can include:
- Bank account details
- An ATO notice of assessment
- APRA fund account details
- A dividend statement
- A Centrelink payment summary
- A PAYG payment summary
- Complete the application.
Click here to complete your online DirectorID application. It is recommended that you use Google Chrome or Firefox to complete the application.
- Provide us with your DirectorID once obtained.
Once you obtain your DirectorID, it is crucial that you provide us with this information so that it can be filed in our records.
Note that if you were a director appointed between 1 November 2021 and 4 April 2022, you were required to apply for your Director ID within 28 days of appointment. For directors appointed from 5 April 2022, you are required to apply for your Director ID before appointment.
