Is your Business Eligible for the $5,000 Queensland Government Lockdown Grant?

As we settle into another COVID-19 lockdown, thousands of Queensland businesses are suffering as a result of restrictions that commenced on Saturday, 31^st July in South East Queensland (SEQ).

In response, the Queensland Government has decided to help businesses by granting payments of $5,000 (excluding GST) to eligible applicants.

These payments should provide temporary cash flow support to Queensland businesses as they adapt to evolving circumstances.

So, what businesses are eligible?

• Small and medium businesses impacted by the SEQ lockdown – not necessarily located in SEQ – that experienced at least a 30% reduction in turnover because of the lockdown
  • Small and medium business are defined as having:
    • A turnover of more than $75,00 per annum
    • An annual payroll in Queensland of up to $10 million
• Large businesses in the hospitality and tourism sector operating in the 11 local government areas currently in lockdown

Does your business fit the criteria?

If your business is eligible, here’s what you need to know:

• Applications open in mid-August (the opening date of applications is yet to be confirmed)
• You will need to apply online with supporting evidence (detailed information regarding application process will be available in the coming days)
• Grants will be paid within (2) weeks of the applicant being notified of their application approval
• All grants are processed in the order they are received by the Queensland Government

My business doesn’t fit the criteria – now what?

Even if you do not qualify for the $5,000 grant, there are still other options that can provide commercial relief during this tenuous time.
