The Payroll Tax Issue for Medical Practices in Qld just took an unfortunate turn

On 19 September 2023 the QLD Revenue Office issued additional guidance on relevant contracts for medical centres – see link here.  This is additional to the ruling which we wrote about on 14 February 2023 (Understanding the Fuss about Queensland Payroll Tax and Medical Centres)

This new ruling runs to 30 pages and is extremely wide in its interpretation of relevant contracts. Given the extent of the ruling, we have taken the decision to make no further comments publicly. We will be working directly with our medical clients and their legal advisors on how this affects their practices based on their specific facts, which are different in each clients’ circumstances.
